ART OF THE SEER: The Cradle of Revelation

Have you ever bought anything from a vending machine? We peer through the glass and see something we want. We drop in our money, push a few buttons, and watch our “Want” move to the front of the glass, drop into the bin below and materialize into reality. We have what we “Want.” We do the same thing when we go shopping. We look for something we “Want,” we make our selection, pay for our selection, and walk out with what we “Want.”

Have you ever caught yourself doing this with God? We want something or think we want something, in the Kingdom. We see what we “Want,” make our selection expecting God to take our payment so we can walk out with what we “Want” only to discover that either God hasn’t responded the way we expected or we created what we wanted out of our own expectations. “But doesn’t God give you the desires of your heart?” Absolutely, He loves to lavish His affection and attention on us, WHEN we are in Relationship with Him. And that’s where the problem lies.

He gives us the desires of our hearts because we are in an intimate relationship with Him. Our hearts have merged with His, we are so close we can almost hear His heartbeat. Which is very different than waving at Him from across the room, or dropping our request off at the customer service counter.

As a Kingdom Creative our only “Want” should start from a place of longing, not from a place of producing. Longing for His affection, longing for His attention, longing for His presence to captivate our hearts. Relationship and Presence create the Anticipation of His arrival being realized and the Expectation of His voice being spoken. It is here, in the place of Relationship and Presence, where Rest becomes the Cradle of Revelation.
